Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Natural Vitality Advocate collects when you use this website, how it is used, and what choices you have.

On This Page

Simple Summary: I don’t sell your personal information. Some plugins and services I use (email delivery, spam protection, affiliate links, advertising) collect limited data automatically, as described below. You can request a copy of your data or ask me to delete it at any time.

Who We Are

Our website address is: https://nvadvocate.com. Natural Vitality Advocate is an independent publishing and content platform operated by David Julian.

What Personal Data We Collect and Why

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. If your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible publicly alongside your comment.

Note: comments are currently disabled sitewide.

Newsletter Sign-Ups

If you subscribe to the NVA newsletter or request a free guide through one of our opt-in forms, we collect your name and email address. This is handled through MailerLite, our email service provider. Your information is used to send the content you signed up for, along with occasional newsletter updates, book announcements, and related content. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly. MailerLite’s own privacy policy is available at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included, since visitors can extract that data from images on the site.

Embedded Content

Articles on this site may include embedded content (videos, images, or other media) from other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you visited the other website directly — those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content, including if you’re logged into an account there.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in a cookie for convenience. These cookies last one year.

Login-related cookies (if you have an account) last two days, or two weeks if “Remember Me” is selected. Screen display option cookies last one year.

Advertising and Affiliate Cookies: This site participates in affiliate marketing programs, including the Amazon Associates Program, Vimergy, and Buoy, which use cookies to track referrals. We also intend to display advertising through Google AdSense in the near future; once active, AdSense will use cookies to personalize the ads you see based on your browsing activity. You can control ad personalization through your Google Ad Settings, and you can disable cookies generally through your browser settings, though this may affect site functionality.

Analytics

This site uses Jetpack Stats (via WordPress.com) and Google Analytics to understand visitor traffic — pages viewed, referring sites, time on site, general visitor counts, and audience patterns. This data is aggregated and used to understand which content is useful to readers. It is not used to individually identify visitors.

Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information and may share it with other Google services. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Jetpack’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy, and Google’s privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Who We Share Your Data With

  • MailerLite — email addresses and names for newsletter/guide delivery
  • Akismet — comment data, for spam filtering (see below)
  • Google AdSense — browsing data for ad display and personalization (planned, not yet active)
  • Google Analytics — aggregated traffic and behavior data
  • Amazon Associates, Vimergy, and Buoy — referral/click tracking through affiliate links

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Akismet

We use Akismet to help detect spam. Akismet collects information about visitors who interact with the site, which may include IP address, user agent, referrer, and site URL, along with any information you directly provide (name, username, email, and comment content). Details are available at akismet.com/privacy.

How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Comment data (if comments are re-enabled) is retained indefinitely to support spam recognition.
  • Newsletter/email data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
  • Analytics data is retained per Jetpack’s and Google’s standard retention policies.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we delete it, at any time. This does not include data we’re legally required to retain. To make a request, use the contact information below.

Where Your Data Is Sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (Akismet). Data handled through MailerLite, Google AdSense, Google Analytics, and our affiliate partners may be processed on servers outside your country of residence, subject to those providers’ own data protection practices and policies.
